Curtis graduated from Flinders University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Creative Arts in Screen Production. In 2011 he received First Class Honours in Cinematography. Curtis has shot and directed a diversity of projects including TVC’s, music videos, documentaries and short films. He has also worked in the camera department of Baz Luhrmann's Australia (2007) and Cole Larsen’s Double Happiness Uranium (2010). Since graduating university, Curtis has crewed as Second Camera Assistant on television commercial productions around Adelaide and is currently a cameraman for the SANFL. The Horror Film
For his Honours project in 2010 Curtis created a 6 minute short film entitled 'The Horror Film'. Written as well as shot by Curtis and directed by Aaron Richard Kaczmarczyk, 'The Horror Film' was an experiment in genre film and aimed to prove how suspense and shock could be achieved through camerawork and direction.

The film won Bronze for Student Cinematography at the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) State Awards for South Australia in 2010, and was nominated for 5 awards at the 2011 South Australia Screen Awards (incl. Best Cinematography and Best Director). It is currently screening at several overseas horror festivals.
